Antiquarian Book Fair in Buenos Aires A walk through the pages of the past Rare, unique, beautiful, very old, and all gathered in one place: the seventh edition of the Antiquarian Book Fair of Buenos Aires offers a wide selection of hard to find elsewhere pounds, historical and literary manuscripts, prints, engravings, maps, photographs and objects. Travel stories, first editions, colonial documents, photos and maps of Buenos Aires is no more. The exhibition organized by the Association of Antiquarian Booksellers Argentina (ALADI) and the Ministry of Education involving 23 exhibitors. Everything is for sale.Most of the books refer to the history of literature and art. There are examples from the sixteenth forefront of the twentieth century. Although the exhibition particularly interested collectors, historians, researchers and book lovers, organizers emphasize the growing interest of visitors cheinclude especially beginners. Some examples of what can be seen: a manuscript that General Jose de San Martin was signed to direct the governor of San Juan José Ignacio de la Rosa, dated 1816, a manuscript by Jorge Luis Borges in his story "Emma Zunz" and one of Pablo Neruda (unpublished) on the Spanish Civil War. A single copy of the best English edition of Travel Around the World by Jean Francois de La Perouse, 1799, is one of the treasures to be found in box RARE HS Libros, while a unique collection of 300 volumes of children's literature, edited by Calleja , 1930 can be seen in the Antique Bookshop (the Old Library). In addition, a 1939 oil on silk depicting Juan Manuel de Rosas lives in peace with many texts dedicated to Sarmiento, his bitter enemy. The exhibition can be visited until Sunday, November 6 with free entry in the Sarmiento Palace, Montevideo 950, from 14 to 20. |
